Tour Massachusetts’ beautiful South Shore to see an array of private backyard chicken coops demonstrating how to house and care for poultry. Homeowners will share their tried and true methods, as well as some unique solutions, utilized for predator protection, surviving New England’s weather, ensuring flock health, and more. Purchase your tickets at the Science Center where you can meet the chickens and wander through the José Carreiro Children’s Garden, purchase chicken-inspired gifts and handcrafts, and learn from “Friends of a Feather” 4-H members. The award-winning youth 4-H members, ages 8-15 years, will share their impressive range of knowledge about raising backyard chickens including incubating eggs and how to prepare chickens for show at competitions. Beginner and experienced chicken keepers alike will benefit from discovering a variety chicken keepers’ arrangements for housing and caring for these popular pets that provide food and fun!
