Four days in, and we are having fun! Our older kids have just returned from their field trip to the Blue Hills Trailside Museum, after yesterday spending their morning canoeing on Jacobs Pond. Their sights have been set on raptors, the various birds of prey that inhabit our area. Our little guys have spent their first days learning everything about birds, today focusing on calls and songs, picking out their favorite species and having their songs played back instantly via an iPad app.
Next week, the rest of camp picks up that specific theme – the sounds of nature. We’ll be challenging their listening and identification skills, culminating with a special “Bird Song Hero” game provided by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. If the weather continues as it has, next week should be as wonderful as this one has been!
