South Shore YMCA Nature Center

The South Shore YMCA Nature Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the education of natural and cultural environments of the South Shore.

Our mission is to provide natural science experiences that educate, excite, and commit all generations to preserve the environment and encourage responsible use, stewardship, and enjoyment of our natural resources.

Located on 30 acres surrounded by 200 acres of town conservation/recreation land consisting of meadows, woodland, and a pond, the South Shore YMCA Nature Center is home to Environmental Education programs, our Nature Center Preschool and summer day camp, Nature Adventures Camp. Our campus features 5 nature trails, the Jose Carreiro Children’s Garden, pollinator and native plant gardens, picnic areas, Coe’s Greenhouse, the EcoZone, and much more!

EcoZone

The EcoZone features interactive exhibits focused on southeastern Massachusetts’s wetlands, woodlands, and meadow ecosystems, featuring live animals and plants.

  • Hours: Monday – Friday: 9am – 12pm
  • Entry to the EcoZone may be limited when a paid program is in session. To ensure availability, please call ahead before your visit: 781-659-2559

Trails

  • Open to the public 7 days a week, from dawn to dusk
  • For the safety of our animals, pets are not permitted
  • We offer a variety of educational programs on-site. Be mindful of ongoing activities and feel free to explore areas not in use by groups.
