Legacy Badge: Water

We will canoe on Jacobs Pond, or explore it through sampling and microscopes. During a visit to our EcoZone, we will discuss the artistry that went into designing an exhibit that features live animals in a water habitat. While there we will also focus on the story of the endangered Northern Red-bellied Cooter, which we raise right here at the Science Center. We will design our ten-question interview for a marine scientist from NOAA who coordinates scientific experiments for the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary, and then brainstorm on ways to share the knowledge we’ve gained about the wonders of water.

*Maple Sugaring (only offered late winter/early spring)

If it’s early spring, hopefully the sap is flowing! We will take a hike to a sugar maple tree on the trails of the Science Center, tap a tree and watch the sap start to flow. We will explore the process of maple sugaring and even enjoy some sweet rewards at the end of the trail!
